The book is
printed by an offset method on «Garda Pat 13» paper, has a
brown-and-gold or black cloth binding with gold stamping on front cover.
The introductory
article, written Yaroslav Kostyuk, is about the microminiature artist,
binder and designer of the micro-bookplates- Anatoliy Konenko from Omsk,
Russia. He has created and illustrated more than three dozen miniature
books, no larger than 20 x 30 mm in editions of 100 copies.
In 1996 Anatoliy
Konenko made and published the unique micro book (0,9 x 0,9 mm) of a story
by Anton Chekhov, "The Chameleon", which became the smallest book in the
world.
The first
nine persons who acquired a copy of "The Chameleon" were also presented
their own specially designed bookplate.
The book "Micro
Bookplates" illustrates these mine micro bookplates, 7 of them are 0,7-0,95
mm, and 2 measure only 0,7x 0,7mm - the smallest bookplates in the world!
The illustrations
in the book are enlarged thirty times.
